Very interesting reads. He lists the starting rotation and position players for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th teams of the last 60 years. In the article he links to his criterion for ranking pitchers and hitters. Very interesting read if you're a big stat head.

a lifetime .371 wOBA from a SS is nothing to sneeze at. that puts him third among all shortstops since 1952.

obviously he's way overrated among yankee fans. outside of that, i think he was overrated for so long that there was a backlash against him, which then made him underrated by a lot of people.

I, too, am a big fan of the thread title. If they're already using math to study sports statistics, next thing you know they'll be using science to study sports medicine. Then it's the Matrix all over again.

I was looking at the entire batters list. All positions, all-time.
