Not a bad pickup depending on what they gave up.

The Brewers are putting the finishing touches on a deal for Blue Jays pitcher Shaun Marcum, tweets Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Milwaukee will send prospects to Toronto for the right-hander, Haudricourt hears.

Marcum is entering his second year of arbitration eligibility. Last year, the hurler avoided arbitration with the Blue Jays when he agreed to a one-year, $850K deal.

Would have been a nice replacement for Ted Lilly

oh well, i should stop expecting us to go after players that are good

Would you want to give up Jackson for Marcum? I wouldnt and that the closest comparison I see.

He's 29 in 9 days and has had one season better than a 4.24 xFIP - this year. His career xFIP is 4.30. However, he does have 7 K/9 compared to 2 BB/9.

There's no way I'd give one of the better Cubs prospects for him, though, and that looks like what the Brewers did.
