Why are the Cubs bringing back Silva at all this year? The only thing he can do is lower any trade value that he may have over the off season. I would prefer that they just shut him down for the year. Any number of young guys they have can suck just as well as he can.

I think starting Samardzija would stand the best chance of improving our draft status.

It takes a true veteran to suck for as long and as bad as Silva has.

And at least tonight he has proved that he has fully recovered.

I know they suck and are 20 games out, but the last two at bats by Jeff Baker are perfect illustrations why this team has such an inconsistent offense. Man on third with less than two outs and both times he swings at first pitch sliders low and away which sets up 2 strikeouts. Could a coach maybe suggest to be a little patient, if the pitch isn't right down the middle, it is ok to take it. Is it really that hard to have a thought process as a major league player?

 

Even worse, Koyie [expletive] Hill is the next hitter.
