Darwin Barney is expected to be called up to platoon at 2B in the coming days... Among those from Iowa who will get consideration are first baseman Micah Hoffpauir, catcher Welington Castillo and outfielders Brad Snyder and Bryan LaHair.

Not sure if that last part was speculation or what Paul Sullivan was told by the Cubs.

Interesting. So this must mean that somebodies on the way out, Fontenot, Baker, or Nady unles theyve found a taker for Fukudome. Personally, I dont see why Baker wouldnt be the other half of a platoon and Barney as backup SS.

There is absolutely ZERO reason not to give Jay Jackson a couple of major league starts before the season is over.

After reading MLBTradeRumors.com, it sounds as though players are already being put on waivers to judge their trade-worthiness. Adam Dunn was placed on waivers today. Maybe the Cubs have already put everyone they planned to on waivers and have had discussions regarding players if they should clear. I would imagine Xavier Nady is a possibility. Others I could maybe see being dealt this month (if the stars line up properly): Kosuke Fukudome, Mike Fontenot, Jeff Baker, and maybe one or two of the relief pitchers who have shuttled back and forth this year (Berg, Stevens, etc.).

- Aramis opts out and leaves.

- Cubs trade Fukudome for Chone Figgins.

 

In the dream there was Hendry explaining the move and how Figgins gives the team a legit leadoff man and great defensive 3rd baseman.

I would just let anyone who claims him take him and his remaining salary. I certainly want him out of the picture by September.
