I need to see defensive reports on Lake before considering him for my Top 10. His errors numbers are really high and I haven't seen anything regarding why he's had so many errors. Perhaps he's comparable to Hak-Ju Lee in that he has excellent range and a good arm, but needs to iron out his defensive work...or, perhaps his errors can be attributed to him being below average defensively. I remember seeing him in Peoria and not being impressed with his defensive prowess at 2B the times I saw him, but I'd like to see scouts' opinions of him.

If he can stick at SS long-term, then yeah, I'd strongly consider putting him in my Top 10. If he's a 2B, 3B, or OF? I'm still skeptical enough of his bat to keep him out of that list for the time being.

For a while at least, the thinking was that Lake would grow off of SS and end up at 3rd. Not still if that's still the case or not.

Darwin Barney at 8!?!?!?

Junior Lake has a higher ceiling than Starlin Castro or Hak-Ju Lee but he's still less likely to make it to the bigs or get near his ceiling compared to a whole host of other guys despite the good month in a pitcher's league.

I put Barney at 8 strictly because of him being close to ready at this point. I don't think he'll ever make it to the majors with us as I feel he'll get dealt in the offseason, but I can see him as a starter for a mid market team. Based on upside, he may not make my top 20. But, I think him and Casey Coleman have about the lowest downsides of anyone in the system.

The report reads that he has good range (for now) and a good arm but not great hands. But yeah, he's expected to grow off SS and the range will probably go then.

Just about *every* scouting report I've read on his defense says he has the same problem on defense as he does while batting - lapses in concentration.
