Brett Jackson is on fire. I'd definitely have him as 1 on the Cubs overall list and probably somewhere in the 25-35 range in all of baseball right now.

Here's a question to ponder though: If Colvin continues to hit and established himself as a legit starter, where is Jackson going to play? If he's ready by the end of next season(if not sooner) we'll have Soriano with 3 more years left on his deal, Byrd, who will have one year left, and Colvin. Trade Byrd at that point, since he's tradeable at least? Or push him to the 4th OFer role where he gets lots of at bats still? Maybe Soriano falls off bigtime next year? Little early to speculate obviously, but still.......We don't truly have a spot open right now and might not by then either.......

Good question - if we're fortunate enough that Colvin locks down an everyday starting job in RF and Jackson progresses to the point where we have to find a starting spot for him in 2012, I would think that Marlon Byrd becomes a 4th outfielder....if the Cubs are faced with this decision down the road, its certainly a good sign!

If it came down to that, Byrd would more than likely be traded rather than become a 4th outfielder. We have plenty of guys on the farm now whoe by then could become 4th outfielders, between Adduci, Campana, Wright, Spencer, or Guyer, or Fuld, Snyder, or Hoffpauir if there stil around we should be able to find a 4th outfielder and trade Byrd and the last year of his contract.
