Are there any GMs out there dumb enough to trade anything of significance for Theriot. Man, he's just terrible

there probably are because he's a lot better than a black hole (which many utility middle infielders are) at shortstop, but it would help if he would stop playing like a complete turd.

You could do worse than Theriot at the 8 spot, but hes just not a leadoff material. Also, if he were a better defensive player, his hitting would be more forgiveable. Fontenot and Baker are both better options at 2nd than Theriot, but for some reason, Lou just cant get enough of him. Some players have a few bad games and their in the doghouse, others get chance after chance. I just dont get it.

You're vastly overstating Theriot's value now that he's at 2B. He's simply unacceptable as a starter at this point. A Fontenot/Baker platoon is a much better option.

Well, assuming Tracy/Baker will platoon at 3rd, just make Fontenot the starting 2B, or at least platoon him with Theriot.

For the time being, yes.

It seems like I'm posting this in every game thread lately, but I'm really tired of hearing that Soto has to hit to stay in the lineup because Hill is so much better defensively. I don't get to watch every game, but I just don't see the greatness in Hill's defense. He's okay, but he's not that much better(if any) than Soto. Basestealers are 11-13 against Hill this year.

it's complete bullcrap. people just say that about backup catchers who can't hit because they assume there's some reason that they're on the team.

I'm pretty sure our record would be a bit worse if not for Marlon Byrd. A nice signing by Hendry.

And does Cashner remind anyone else of Wood? They're built similarly and both have the plus fastball. I'd still like to see Cash as a starter.

yeah i'd also like to see some more of soto instead of [expletive] koyie hill. this year's team is pretty much a waste; might as well find out if your former rookie of the year catcher is a guy who can be an above-average player for the next few years or if you need to start trying to find a catcher elsewhere. i'm pretty sure koyie hill is not the long-term answer (nor should he even be considered a short-term answer either)

Anybody notice when the ESPN announcers were talking about how Castro played for Sandberg at Iowa before being called up? Oops; Castro never played a game for Iowa.

I only watched a handful of innings due to the Hawks game, but Sutcliffe is a terrible announcer.

He always sounds drunk when I've heard him announce, and whenever I've seen him paired with Chris Berman, it seems like every other word out of his mouth is "Boomer." I didn't see any of last night's game though because of MLB's stupid blackout rules.
