Any bets that he may be the first manager fired this year? if the lead holds the Sox will start out 4-9 on the season with not a lot of positives to come out of the first 2 weeks of the season.

There was a lot of talk that Ozzie lobbied with Kenny Williams to build the type of ballclub he has now, one with good pitching and an offense built around speed. Ozzie got the team he wanted and is currently floundering with it.

I would think they'd give him at least a third of the season before caning him. However, I believe this Sox team is better than a 4-9 team and should play well enough that it won't become a serious issue (firing Ozzie that is)

I think that would be inhumane. =D>

Ozzieball strikes in Phoenix tonight. After a leadoff double by Rasmus, La Russa has Lopez bunt him over to third base. This brings up Molina, who has been striking out more and doesn't put the ball in the air even when he is right.

Molina hits a grounder that is botched by LaRoche and Rasmus scores. The Cardinals back into a run and this small ball BS gets applauded.

I was discussing this with someone the other day. But unless the Sox turn things around (and I'm not confident that they will) ozzie will be gone by the AS break. Between the fact that he is likely the one who pushed to put this poor team together, all the problems with his son earlier in the year, and the fact that Kenny appears to not like him all that much on a personal level, you'd have to think that if Kenny was presented an opportunity to can him he'd do it. This year appears to be his perfect opportunity.

If he were in the National League, that type of offense would work, however in the AL you need a lot of power to have any chance to make it deep into October. The 05 Sox had the speed but they hit a ton of home runs as well.

This offense wouldn't work anywhere because it's bad. When you're depending on Mark Kotsay, Rios and Andruw Jones to be significant contributors, your offense is not going to be very good. If I were Williams I would fire him just for making me build this terrible offense and wasting probably the best pitching staff in the league.
