Brett Jackson walked (still hitless) and Josh Vitters doubled him in. Archer struck out two in a 1-2-3 first inning. Daytona leads it 1-0 after 1.

i'm excited to see how archer does. he made some progress with his control last year and definitely has big-league stuff.

he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and 1 hbp (and 1 run) in the 2nd inning, but also had 2 more strikeouts.

Jackson gets his first hit of the season, now batting a robust .077! Glad to see the Daytona offense waking up today. :P

iowa continues to not hit for the most part, but most of their prospects are lousy, so it doesn't really matter. coleman had a pretty good start, 6 ip, 4 h, 3 r, 2 er, 0 bb, 4 k, 1 hr.

daytona's bats woke up today:

b. jackson - 2-4, 2 runs, 1 rbi, 2 bb, 2 k

lemahieu - 3-6, 2b, 1 run, 1 rbi

burke - 1-5, 1 run, 1 rbi, 1 bb, 1 k

vitters - 3-5, 2 2b, 2 runs, 3 rbi

pretty good outings for archer and searle:

archer - 4 ip, 4 h, 2 er, 1 bb, 5 k, 1 hbp, 1/5 GO/FO

searle - 4 ip, 3 h, 2 er, 1 bb, 4 k, 5/2 GO/FO

are most of the guys in Iowa even really considered "prospects" so much as spare parts for the big league club?

Apparently Trey McNutt got the start for Peoria and Su-Min Jung piggy-backed.

McNutt: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K

Jung: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 1 K

Hak-Ju Lee is 2/4 with a double.

Castro went 0-5 with a K today. :( 7 K's in 3 innings is awfully nice for McNutt though. Glad to see some of the other bats wake up, like Jackson, Vitters, and Lee.....

Me and Fred watched that together today. It was ugly. He also made a really bad play on a pop-up and got ragged pretty bad by the hometown crowd about it.

Hung-Wen Chen pitched a heck of a game though and Alex Maestri looked really good in relief. He has a pretty cool delivery.

What about Ryan Buchter...do you think he can contribute as a lefty reliever in the future?
