late night out before one of his starts and it created a lot of friction with a member of the tennessee coaching staff. most people seem to be of the opinion that it was an isolated incident and not a pattern of poor behavior by him.

And that was in Mobile, AL. And he and someone else (forgot who) were at a bar called The Garage, and they were hitting on one of my friends who didn't believe that they were baseball players, lol

So few catchers end up working their way up, so in a way its like throwing a bunch against a wall and seeking what sticks. In any type of situation with a high amount of variation, you'd typically want to have as many chances as possible.
