Shane Victorino?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure Shane would love to play in Wrigley, after having a beer thrown on him...

Well, I wouldn't mind playing some place where people gave me free beer while playing for the opposing team, so you never know...

"It's part of the game. It's one of those things that happens and I just want to make sure that guy gets what's due," Victorino said before the Phillies' 6-1 win.

"I think he needs to be held accountable. But for the most part, I just see it as the guy thought it was fun. It is what it is. It didn't cost me in any way and it didn't hurt me in any way. It's part of the ballgame," he said.

Have a feeling that there are a lot of Victorino haters around here...

why is that? he has a little pop and gets on base pretty well, plays very good defense, runs the bases well, and plays with enthusiasm and energy. he's not great but he's very good and a fan favorite. i think there would be a revolt in philly if he were traded at this stage of his career.

i really don't think the phillies are trading any pieces of their offense, but if they did, i could see it being werth ahead of victorino, since werth is due $7.5M next year and then is a free agent. it's more realistic that they go into next year with a 1-2 of lee and hamels, blanton, happ, and maybe they give moyer another shot or just sign a low-priced free agent to fill out the rotation. the phillies are still built to win right now and it doesn't really make a lot of sense for them to deal off someone like victorino or werth without getting a good, proven SP in return.

The Cubs probably can't provide anything in the way of starting pitching that the Phils want, but could a deal involving Toronto with Halladay going to the Phillies be worked out?

Cubs Prospects + Phillies Prospects to Toronto

Halladay + Fuld/Colvin/Whoever to Philly

Victorino to Chicago?

I know Philadelphia was interested in Halladay in the past, but I don't know if they would be willing to do it now. Probably not without Halladay signing an extension, especially since they would probably have to give up more to get Halladay.
