I'm very happy to announce the launch of 312sports.com this coming Friday, October 16th!

312 Sports will be launching with live coverage of Midnight Madness at the University of Illinois. We will be on the floor at Assembly Hall for first hand reaction and interviews. We'll also be joined by one of the members of the 1989 Flying Illini team that played for the national championship.

312 Sports will be focusing on all sports across the Chicago area - pro, college and even high school. I'm very excited about what we'll be able to bring to the table with the new site. In addition to the message boards, I've been working with Chuck Bryan to get an all-star cast lined up for blogs and podcasts on all the sports across the city and state. We already have press credentials for UofI and we are working on them for other university and pro teams. The coverage of the Midnight Madness event is a small sample of what we will be trying to line up for the site over time.

Join us for the event and the official launch of the website!

btw - I know there are going to be questions about how the two sites will work together. My plan is to continue to run and enhance NSBB exactly as it has been going. It is a great place for Cubs fans to come and talk baseball. We have a number of members who come here that do not follow other sports in Chicago and would not have interest in being part of a larger focused site. I want to give my assurance that I'm going to stay focused on making NSBB the best place for following the Cubs on the internet.

will the "Other Sports" forum move to the new site?

The "Other Sports" forum will continue here for people that do not wish to post at two sites.

Interesting. I ask because it seems the choice to allow Bears and Bulls talk to continue at NSBB is what prevented WindyCityFootball and SecondCityHoops from getting off the ground. The sentiment seemed to be "I prefer to just stay at NSBB".

So what will be the incentive to draw NSBB'ers to a second site?

I think that Tim hopes to draw members from other sources besides NSBB.

Of course, but he obviously has a large (and loyal) pool to start from here

I am hoping to build 312 from a lot more than just the nsbb community. I'm going to be much more aggressive this time around in adding unique content to the site that attracts people outside of our existing community. I also think that having all the teams (plus college) will make a big difference in attracting a critical mass of people to the community.

I'm not expecting anyone to leave nsbb to go there. I hoping some people will enjoy reading both sites, though. :D

I think the big difference will be the content on 312Sports.com. We've put a great deal of effort into opening up avenues w/ the teams and with our media credentials we'll be able to provide a great deal of information to the fan base that visits 312.

How come you don't have that cool Moxy format over here? I'm digging the style 9.

It didn't come out until after I redid this board. I could probably move it over here at some point.

Can you do something about the confirmation codes for registration? They're next to impossible to read.

I changed it. If I make it too easy, then I have to worry about bot registrations.

Not able to reach the site right now.

preemptive ban for a known troublemaker.

Fair decision.

What was the error you were getting and is it now fixed?
