Jimenez is dealing.

too bad Lee is too.

This sucks. I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to see LA/NY, LA/PHI

I won't know who to root for. I guess the Angels. Usually when I don't care I'll pull for the smaller market team, but if all those teams get in, then there sure isn't any small dog in the fight.

hey look, another blown call

I don't understand how anyone could still be against replay after this postseason so far.

My only concern with replay is what happens if a call is reversed.

For example, what if a ball if fair that they called foul? Where do you put the batter? The play didn't continue, so nobody has any idea if the batter was going to get a single or a triple.

What about a play at the plate? Let's say a guy gets called out at the plate (as the other runners are also attempting to advance). That's the third out that ends the inning. Replay reverses the call-where do you put the other runners who were advancing? The defense never got a chance to throw them out.

The same thing happens with a catch or a trap. If it's a trap, where does the batter go and where do the runners on base go? What if it was on the infield where the fielder would have had a chance to throw runners or the batter out if it hadn't been ruled a catch to begin with?

Expanded replay in baseball is really tricky because of that. I'm not concerned with the amount of time replay would take or the human element of the game, but I'm not sure how there can be a fair system of replay put into place.

Any system that is first put in place will be flawed for sure. But I'm sure it will evolve into something respectable that can ensure the correct outcome is reached. But baseball cannot have the black eye of all these bad calls made during the postseason. It really makes them look bad.

If they do insert some sort of instant replay on fair or foul balls and catch/trap calls, I'd guess they would institute something like the NFL does with fumbles. Just let it play - call it fair and a trap if they're not sure of a call or it's very close - and then review it after. Like you said, if a fair ball is called foul and reviewed, where do you go from there?

A play at the plate or a third out situation, I have no idea.

There will end up being certain plays that just can't be reviewed but putting in some form of instant replay will help get more calls correct.

You're welcome, OMC. I headed home from work and the Rockies score 3.

That shouldn't be a concern at all. Just use instant replay when it makes sense to use it. Don't use it when there's nothing you can do because of the situations you described.

This should absolutely be Joe Beimel pitching right now. Howard can't hit lefties.

Agreed.

Sorry OMC, I just started watching.
