Naturally, now that I'm eliminated I get strong pitching performances from unexpected sources (Stauffer and Correia). Of course, the fact that they're playing the Nats might have something to do with that. Stauffer is auditioning for a spot on my team for next year since he still has 2 exemptions; Correia is basically roster filler to play out the string this year.

In order for me to lose first place, I have to lose and Tim has to win. Right now, Tim leads by 16 and is down a start, and i trail by 9 and am down a start (although I trailed by 60 yesterday, so things are lookin up!). At least I still have a chance at this thing and I have two ways to win.

Up by 50, down by two starts. Feeling decent about my chances this week, not feeling good about my chances of getting a bye.

Down 13 now, Lester is still in there with 71 pitches but Hudson is at 90 pitches so he might be done. At the very least, my 2 starts today are making it interesting.

SABR is down 3 and both teams are done with their starters.

Macdougal pitching like crap essentially makes it impossible for me to win unless, say, Ichiro homers on his next 3 ABs and Aardsma gets a 2 inning save.

So, now I'm hoping for the right kind of offense tonight for the Dodgers.

I'm sure if you beat him once you can beat him again. I mean, you'll have to beat him either way to win the league, so you may as well start now.

Now that my season is done (at least it ended on a winning note and gave me my first winning season in Roadkill) my main interest now is hoping that Norris gets few enough starts the rest of the year to keep his minor league eligibility. Having him and Davis on my minor league roster during the offseason would be like getting two extra keepers.

I guess I owe Navin a beer or something.

Depends on what this or something is. :-k

You might want to hold off on that if I win next week.

I am in a similar situation. (.500 this season). I hope that Wood and Maybin get less than 200 ABs so I can keep them in the minors during the off-season.

BTW - I will have plenty of room under the cap to make trades and plenty of interesting and exempt keepers. When trading season starts people should talk to me.

I assume we still can not pick up minor leaguers. But, can we pick up players who are september call-ups and then keep them in the minors during the off-season?

The Blue Jays are killing me by playing Travis Snider every day. He's already up to 158 AB's with 25 games to go. He'll easily pass 200 and thus killing an exemption year.

BTW, for us losers who didn't make the playoffs, is the keeper limit going to be 2000 this year ?

Juan would have to give the definitive answer, but my guess would be yes for playoff teams and no for us lowly wait-til-next-year types. We've said that it's OK to pick up prospects if called up by major league teams (that's how I was able to pick up Norris). But I also think Juan said last year that non-playoff teams shouldn't be making roster moves. I don't know whether changing rules with respect to minor leaguers changes that or not.

you can pick them up - they can be in the minors during the offseason as long as they don't exceed the limits. The reason to not make roster moves is that I don't want a big pool of players dumped into the mix for the playoffs.

the limit will be what it was last year.

I picked up Hudson and put him in my minors. Hudson is playing in the majors. He will have few enough appearances to stay in the minors during the off season. I did not put him on my bench, since you did not want to have any extra free agents available to the play-off teams. When are we going to have our minor league draft? Sometime after the play-offs are over?

What about Alex Gordon. Even during expanded rosters, he was sent to the minors. If he never gets recalled, would he be considered a minor leaguer since he ended the season as a minor leaguer?

something similar happened to me last year with hill and i was not allowed to keep him as a minor leaguer.

additionally, you also-rans need to quit posting in this thread as i continue to see new posts and think there is some development with the current playoff matchups. thank you.

It's a moot point now; Gordon has been called up.
