kyler burke is out of the lineup tonight... hopefully just a night off. it'd be nice if the chiefs are at full health if/when they're in the playoffs.
When, not if. They've clinched a spot; it was mentioned on the Cubs' telecast today.

ah ok... they probably are just going to rotate days off for the regulars the rest of the way.

That's a really nice night for Samardzija! His next pitch will happen as a member of the major league team, so it's a great way to leave the minors!

another win by tennessee in their last AB! this time in the bottom of the 9th... west tenn is down by 2 right now; if they lose it's tied at the top of the division.

castro and colvin each had a double on the night.

Julio Pena gets the start for Mesa. Hopefully he will be in Boise (or Peoria) by tomorrow; along with Dwayne Kemp and Charles Thomas.

Great to see such a good outing for Carpenter after he had struggled thus far.

In this type of case with Iowa out of it and Tenn in the race, would they ever send guys from Iowa down to Tenn to help out?

peoria's pitching tonight:

bristow: 2.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 2 K

beliveau: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K

hamren: 2.0 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 0 K

beliveau got the loss... further evidence that wins and losses are pretty pointless for pitchers.

Daytona is in the second game of a double header. They are entering the 7th (and final) inning of the game & they have not yet given up a hit. Tune in & listen to hear if they can pitch their second no-hitter of the season!

Ive always thought it goofy that a starter has to go 5 full to earn a win but a reliever can hypothetically come in and throw 1 pitch and get the win, and more so, a reliever can blow the lead, and then his team comes back and scores a few and he can get a win.

Done and done. Oswaldo Martinez has been solid since getting to Daytona and apparently Marwin Gonzalez made a stellar defensive play in the first inning to preserve the game.

Ask again when Iowa is actually out of it. They aren't. They're 2 games behind with over a week remaining in the season.

Sorry, I meant it more hypothetically, if Iowa were out of it, would they do such a thing?

i'm pretty sure that's either not allowed or very frowned upon. if you call a guy up that's different, but that would be pretty cheap to send a bunch of guys down one or more levels to help a playoff push or improve a team for the playoffs.

Are the minor league playoffs that big of a deal anyway? I doubt teams would send players down for a minor league championship.

Against the first hitter of the game! It sounded great.

They lost in extra innings 3-2 (it was going to be a 7-inning game, but ended up going 9). I didn't listen to it though.
