3 posts from you in a row that have done nothing more than insult me. how about you just put me on ignore buddy

But then I would miss all of this

EDIT: You could put me on ignore, if you cared enough.

But I don't hate you, and I'm not going around insulting you. I don't really care about you.

I never claimed to have PROVEN anything. This can never be PROVEN or DISPROVEN.

I am simply putting forth a theory, and it has obviously stirred up a lot of discussion. Great. That's what the board is for.

Forget I even mentioned the B word. But do you really think it is so ridiculous that the Cubs have actually felt more pressure than other teams recently?

I've already agreed with this. Multiple times. In this thread that you aren't reading.

OK, so you say "maybe the Cubs have felt more pressure, and maybe this has affected them". If so, then we agree.

But no, I'm not projecting a lot of my own [expletive] on the cubs. We all want the Cubs to win, but I can say that my life will go on if they don't, and I should hope yours will too. And no, I have not proven anything, nor have I claimed to. And you certainly haven't either.

Tough to read every line in every post when a thread blows up like this.

you're not following me. it's ok, you wouldn't believe it, anyway.

Ironically, the ability to be clutch is the ability to maintain your level of play rather than raising it to match the situation. From there, it often depends on your talent as well as what the opposition is doing.

Pujols in '05 wasn't clutch against Lidge, he's the best "maybe clean" hitter I've ever seen hitting a hanging slider 900 ft. Give that pitch to Joey Gathright, he probably singles thru the box. Most hitters w/power knock the hell out of the ball. Did Lidge feel the pressure? Maybe... best hitter in the game, 2 strike count, going for the perfect slider and has the opposite effect, but it could've been just a bad pitch as many slider hang and get banged.

The Cubs felt the pressure the last two postseasons, they're aware of everything that surrounds the 101 years of losing. They feel fan pressure, every Spring and once the post-season starts they get asked questions about the drought, Boston felt it as well and they handled it well. I don't think Boston raised their game after being down 0-3 to NYY, but they didn't press either. Of course, they had the talent to take 4 in a row vs. NYY and 4 vs. a very good STL team.

There's no doubt in my mind that players do care about their fans in this city.
