Castro and Chirinos to AA

Reed and Samson to Daytona

Holy crap.

That's a bit too aggressive for my liking.

Same here. Would've preferred to see Castro in Daytona all year. As for Samson, who I sort of root on (and sort of think a tiny bit more power could develop), he's always going to be in the position where he'll never be a high priority.

Although perfectly happy with the Chirinos/Reed switch. Here's hoping Robinson Chirinos agrees to stay next year (pretty sure he is a FA). If so, give him a NRI and let him go to AAA as the veteran catcher there. Better than signing another scrap heap guy and it rewards a guy who's been with us forever.

Everyone loves how Jackson plays the game...just wish he'd make more contact. How'd he look at the plate to you?

He's got some bat speed, somewhat level maybe too much of an uppercut at this stage, but has some decent pop. I don't think he's going to be an all-star at the plate. He might be someone that can hit .275-.285 with 10-20 HRs per year and play CF'er. He can get pull happy at times and that might hurt his avg. as he progresses. His 2 BBs weren't counts where he had to work they were both all balls that were well out of the zone (low and away).

I think I he'll be better than the draft day reports from BA and PG.

Thanks for your reports! How did LeMahieu look?

For his size, he's got a compact swing, he's not very strong at this point and will have to do improve on adding strength. Defensively, he has good hands and can make the routine plays. He doesn't have great arm strength but it can play at SS/3B. He's a good runner at this point so I imagine once he fills out and gets older, it'll likely decrease more.

yeah...

They're gonna call him up if he keeps pitching well.

Here ya go, Tim:

Bruce Miles[/url]"]Cashner in September? General manager Jim Hendry checked in Thursday from Denver, where the Cubs open a three-game series tonight.

Earlier this week, Hendry watched the Cubs' Class AA Tennessee farm team, which is loaded with pitchers such as Andrew Cashner, Casey Coleman and Chris Carpenter.

There has been a lot of talk about the Cubs possibly calling up Cashner in September. I don't see this happening. It looks like the Cubs will want Cashner, the Cubs' first-round draft pick last year, to get more polish in the minors.

We'll see. I hope Bruce is right.
