Wainwright's WHIP is over 1.30. I'm shocked that his ERA is still so good.

His FIP is 3.09, his XFIP is 3.67, he's 11th in MLB in VORP. Much more telling stats then his 1.29 WHIP, though his walks could be lowered a little bit, but his K's have jumped a lot this season, offsetting it a bit.

So is Hanson's. Wainwright seems to be one of those pitchers that can get good results despite an average WHIP.

Know who's 5th in MLB in WHIP? Joel Pineiro and Jarrod Washburn. Randy Wolf is 12th, Haap is 16th.

I mean it's an okay stat, but really not all that telling when examining a pitcher's performance over the year.

Wainwright in the NL is a lower-level 1 starter, in the AL he'd be a solid number 2.

WTF, I went to bed with the Brewers up 7-1 on the Padres in the 3rd or something and figured that one was over, and the Padres come back and win 11-7. Things just get better and better for those guys. I can just imagine the booing at Miller.

With the Brewers and Astros doing the best they can to bury themselves, it looks more and more like we'll have a dog fight to the end with the Cardinals.
