This is what you call an epic fail. Dempster was an average closer so the idea is bad from the start. Then you think about how we would be much better off leaving Dempster in the rotation along with Peavy, moving Marshall to the pen and Gusman to closer and you get the epic part of the fail.

If by Marshall you mean Wells, then yes, I agree with you. Wells to the Penn and Marshall in the rotation would be best.

Dempster was a hell of alot better then Gregg at Closer. Plus I believe he is a much better pitcher now then he was then when he was just coming back from his arm injury.

Still doesn't explain why you would take a well above average starter out of the rotation so that he can be made back into being an average closer.

I agree. I was just giving the most likely scenario if we were to trade for Peavy.

No. A rotation of Z-Dempster-Lilly-Harden-Peavy (in any order) wuth a pen of Wells, Marshall, Gregg, Marmol, Guz and Ascaino is dominating. No need to make Dempster into an average closer at best.

If Jake Peavy is a member of the Chicago Cubs, Marshall and/or Wells won't be.
