Micah Hoffpauir is for real. At least with the bat.

Aram's gonna be out awhile and even after he comes back, it's probably gonna take him some time to build up his power again. We need to fill the Aram void and Scales/Freel isn't gonna suffice.

Sure you lose some defense over at first, but Lee's on the decline it's pretty clear and he still is good enough to have some trade value.

Ship him out for a third baseman!

Any team looking to deal a semi quality third baseman is probably in sell mode and looking to aquire prospects rather and a guy in his late 30s whose on the obvious decline.

wow lee is in his late 30s already? someone must have put him on that machine in the princess bride.

Koyie will be just fine as the fill in 3b. Quite comical, actually.

If I were Jake Fox, I'd be begging the coaching staff to take multiple hours of grounders at 3B every day.

Trade Derrek Lee to the Mariners for Russell Branyan and Carlos Silva, believe it or don't, I actually have more faith that Carlos Silva can fluke his way to a 4.30 ERA than Derrek Lee can do anything well at all.

russell branyan was a really good signing by the m's. good power good patience, can play 1B (adequately) or 3B (poorly) or DH and give above-average production for $1.4M.

if bavasi was still there i'd say they might go for the deal.

How about Lee to KC? They could .show their fans how serious they are by acquiring a vet like him.

Lee for Greinke! \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

Maybe if we throw in Heilman the'll throw in Teahen or Jacobs.

Yeah, I get that its not likely. Just an idea - Lee for a prospect or two and then spin those guys off to get some help a 3B or at 2B. In fact, if you get a 2B, Fontenot can play 3B until ARam gets back and then can play supplant Miles as the utility guy off the bench. Not ideal, but not so bad either.

I heard in spring training, I believe it was Kap, that Lee was put on the block and there were no takers.

that's possible, but even so I seem to recall reading something where Hendry asked Lee to waive his NTC and he wouldn't do it so either way it was lose-lose for the Cubs.
