I can't tell you how many times this series I held my breath because of a play involving Bradley during that series. From the somersault where he flipped over his head diving for that one ball, to when he tweaked his ankle at first base because he was watching the play in the outfield, to being hit by a pitch yesterday. When I watch him play, it seems like once or twice a game I get that same feeling in the pit of my stomach like I got when Prior took the line drive off of his elbow.

You're going to have a long, miserable season.

I've been a Cubs fan for going on 27 years now. I'm used to it.

But the last few regular seasons have been fun. It's just the post-seasons that have sucked. You have to accept the fact that Milton Bradley WILL see the DL at some point this season. Just hope that it's for a very short time and that he will be 100% healthy come October. Same goes for Harden.

People who believe that the baseball gods hate Milton are the same people who believe in the goat curse or that Bartman lost the 2003 NLCS.

Milton's body is not any more or less fragile than any other player. So he got hit in the back by a pitch, tripped going over first base, and dove for a ball in the outfield ... that stuff happens ALL THE TIME in baseball, practically nobody gets hurt afterwards.

Wouldn't not being injured in all of these events indicate a higher power DOESN'T have it out for Bradley?

Hence the title being a question instead of a statement.

Disagree on the first point. After a guy spends so much time on the DL, you have to accept they're injury prone. Otherwise, we'd still be trying to field a rotation with Prior and Wood.

Yeah, the stuff happens all of the time. The whole point of the thread was just to poke a little fun at the fact that I've caught myself holding my breath hoping he's alright so many times already because of that history. Not to seriously endorse the superstitions that have evolved around baseball.

(p.s. he was hit by the knee, not in the back...)

Along with Lance Dickson, Mike Harkey, etc.

Which is probably 80% of the Cub fan base :P
