We need to decide on a league draft date and time, and with 16 of us, it will be nearly impossible to find a day when we are all available. I will post a poll with 4 options, and we'll likely have to go with the best option.

The only other solution is to continue the same way we've done the Expansion Draft, but that has been painfully slow. Not anywhere close to a hope that I would have.

Well I would be ok with a offline draft if people promised to check throughout the day. However that will never actually happen. Offline draft, with so many rounds, would end a month into the season. I just hope the time that is picked I am available.

Any weekend or evening after 8PM CST.

Evenings after 8 CST is fine but weekends could be tough but I will make myself available.

Keep in mind for evening drafts that we have 25 rounds at 120 seconds for each pick. That's a potential 13 hour draft. I think trying to keep an early start on a Saturday works best.

That being said I cannot make any Sunday drafts or evenings before 8pm EST.

What happened to March 21st at 1pm?

That is my preference as well. However, it is the Sweet 16 Round of the Tourney, if that matters to anyone else. (It does not to me, as I think March Madness is the most overrated event in all of sports.)

Everyone can have it on in the background.

I can guarantee that I would not be available for the Thursday draft (work) and the 28th (going to the NCAA in Indy).

I won't be available starting at 10 p.m. for the Thursday option. That would give me an hour of draft i.e. 2 or 3 picks.

For the record, Nuke (sashdh44) has already told me his top pick. I might post it, if the 2nd owner would be willing to make a pick. We could potentially finish two rounds before draft day, which would help us out tremendously.

A few questions about the draft...

There has to be some parameter for how long we're allowed for picks. There doesn't seem to be a set amount of time that can surpass. In addition, there are times that I will not be able to make it online. I'm not like a lot of you where I have the ability to check things at work.

Well you can't take longer than Czar takes for his picks.

I think all this nonsense about how long a live draft could take is very overblown. Who really takes all two minutes to draft a player? If you're at all prepared, and observant, you shouldn't need any longer than 45 seconds. Which for 16 players should be 12 minutes per round. For a day, it might take 5-6 hours. Big deal. We don't need to be time crunching like crazy to get a couple picks in. I'm not sure why everyone is freaking out about how long a draft could take.

I disagree. Not only is 45 seconds per pick unreasonable, it's borderline absurd. Keep in mind that this league will have 92 more players selected than last year. I think that 1 minute per pick is an aggressive estimate, and even at that, you're looking at a 6 hour draft. Others may, but I simply do not have time to do a 6 hour draft. I have a pregnant wife and a 19 month old at home who need more attention from me than that. 3 hours, maybe even 4, I can get by with. 6, and I am sleeping in the guest bed.

I don't like sleeping in the guest bed.

The later rounds always take the longest because the talent is so slim, it causes people to make much more thought out decisions. It's a lot tougher to decide between Christian Guzman and Mike Aviles than it is Jose Reyes or Hanley Ramirez because you never know what to expect with the weaker, inconsistent players.

In one of my drafts we cruised throug hthe first 10 or so rounds, but the last half of the draft took almost double the time it took in the beginning.

And with this draft, by the time we start it, it will be nearing the halfway point with all the keepers and top players already off the market. After the first 4-5 rounds of the live draft some of us will be on the brink of selecting our backup players.
