I think Toronto would have made some more noise this season had they not had a pitching injury or two. I still think they might challenge for the WC with some luck.

They had an outside chance at the WC IF they didn't have the injuries, but with a rotation of Halladay, Litsch, Purcey, Clement?, Maroth?/Burres?...that team doesnt have a shot in hell at .500, even if DMac comes back before the break.

it has fukudome at .296/.401/.479 against RHP and reed johnson at .292/.359/.433 against LHP so one would think that a strict platoon in CF would result in the cubs having one of the most productive offensive CF in baseball - though fukudome's projection still looks overly optimistic.

it also has fontenot at .288/.370/.483 against RHP and miles at .280/.331/.331 (barf) against LHP.

huh, I wonder why they're forecasting such a low OBP vs. LHP? The past three seasons he's averaged a .374 OBP versus southpaws. It was the only stat that made me not want to punch a wall when I thought about the Cubs signing him. If he slugs 330 and gets on base less than a third of the time, I think he'll enter "Neifi" territory when it comes to hated Cubs.

I'd be curious to see what PECOTA's responses are towards the 2009 Royals....

76-86 4th in the A.L. Central one game in front of the White Sox. Aviles and DeJesus being the best hitters, Greinke and Meche good on the mound and Soria real good at closer.

basically bp 2009 said the royals should be competitive within the division, but they won't win it unless guys like butler and gordon make the leap toward stardom that people predicted for them.

Makes sense. I was just curious to see if they would show some improvement from 08 results to 09 projected results on Gordon and Butler?
