I'm judging it solely on clock management? Okay. Maybe you should read the Simmons stuff I posted. You sound pretty defensive and angry. Just sayin

and you sound pretty wrong. just sayin

and i should add that i take reid's entire body of work into perspective, not just the disappointing last season or two. i understand this may be difficult for someone whose outlook on the cubs changed about 55 times this season - or perhaps more accurately, 55 times each game thread - but that's just how i roll. plus, when you are starting out a post with the sentence "I challenge anyone to name a coach who is worse than Andy Reid" when the likes of rod marinelli, romeo crennel, wade phillips, marv lewis and norv turner are employed as head coaches, you have failed.

No he's right. You're an angry, angry man. Defensive too. And you're from Philly to boot, my oh my.

if i want anger, all i need to do is read the most recent bears' game thread.

LOL. I can't defend against that, come on now.

I wouldn't put Andy Reid anywhere near even the worst five head coaches, much less the worst.

My bottom five coaches off the top of my head (worst = 1):

1. Norv Turner

2. Marvin Lewis

3. Jim Haslett

4. Jack Del Rio

5. Brad Childress (Rod Marinelli and Romeo Crennel are close, and perhaps ahead of him)

Del Rio has no business on this list and Marinelli is far and away tops. Turner has never systematically purged any of his teams of all talent to suit an antiquated style of football.

Ah, but Turner has taken extremely talented teams (Chargers won 14 games two years ago) and turned them into crap (4-6, I think this year). I could see Marinelli on there over Del Rio or Childress, but the horrible suckitude of this year's Jags may be coloring my vision a bit.

There is no doubt in my mind that Norv Turner is the worst coach currently employed in the NFL. By quite a longshot, too.

Considering that Al Davis loves him, I think it's a safe assumption that Tom Cable is one of the worst head coaches in the NFL.

And do we have to stick with current head coaches? Because if not, I submit Bill Callahan and Art Shell in his second stint with the Raiders as others who are way worse than Andy Reid.

Yeah, I was going primarily with currently employed head coaches. Of course, Norv would likely be high on a historically bad list as well.

I thought strongly about Cable, but don't have any evidence other than he can't win with these players (probably nobody can) and Al Davis seems to like him. That's some pretty solid evidence against him, but not quite enough for the list.

i dunno, "al davis loves him" is pretty damning.

I could be wrong, but I still expect Al Davis to fire Cable before the season ends.

Two firings in one season - first time ever?

If any owner is going to fire two coaches in a season, Al Davis is the guy for the job.

For your sake, maybe he'll fire himself one of these days.

I don't know whether to laugh at the Chargers or feel sorry for them. But Norv Turner will be back next season, says owner Dean Spanos.

“I'm committed to him,” team president Dean Spanos told The San Diego Union-Tribune on Wednesday morning. “I believe in him. It's ridiculous to think he's not going to be back.”

. . . . . . Wow.

lol.... i feel sorry for chargers fans but not for their organization; they've sabotaged themselves.

It's all A.J. Smith. That ego of his wouldn't allow him to coexist with one of the best coaches in the NFL (at the time).

So he made the horrible decision to hire one of the worst. I do feel for Charger fans, that's a whole lot of talent being wasted in SD.
