Nothing special:

Nationals acquired RHP Matt Avery from the Cubs for LHP Ryan Buchter.

Neither is a serious prospect. Avery, 25, roomed with Ryan Zimmerman at Virginia. He had a 4.12 ERA and a 60/39 K/BB ratio in 74 1/3 innings as a reliever between Single-A Daytona and Double-A Tennessee last season. Buchter, 21, had a 2.59 ERA in 17 relief appearances between Rookie ball and the Sally League. It's possible we'll see Avery in the majors at some point of next year, but he's unlikely to have success, even as a middle reliever.

My wiki placeholder!

Vitters wasn't good enough for that job I suppose.

BTW, that's still alive and I'm aiming to get it rolled out over Thanksgiving.

Didn't want to look at his ugly mug every time.

I'll finish, I promise.

Oh crap, I totally forgot that.

I should get on it again.

His numbers seem to indicate power stuff with big control problems. Not a bad exchange for a non-prospect like Avery.

Sweet, more power pitchers with control problems.

Overheard on Nats boards everywhere:

"Sweet, more finesse pitchers with zero upside."

Avery tops out at 95.
