In a roto style keeper league. Lots of categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, K, BA, OBP, SLG for hitters. W, L, SV, K, WHIP, ERA, CG, Holds for pitchers.

Well, I have been offered Brandon Webb and the 9th overall pick for Troy Tulowitzki and the #1 pick (yes, I finished last). Should I do the trade?

I have Hanley as my keeper for SS, so I probably wouldn't be keeping Tulo anyway, but the #1 pick is pretty valuable. I'm leaning toward no, just let me know I'm not crazy for passing this up.

it's kind of hard to tell without knowing who isn't being kept.

how many teams/keepers are there?

10 teams, 5 keepers, plus the abililty to keep your picks in the last 2 rounds if they have remained on your roster all year.

I think there's a shot the guy might not keep Webb. So, I could conceivably get him with the 1st pick.

but if you arent going to keep tulo and you DO draft webb 1st overall, wouldnt the trade be better? that way you're getting webb and the 9th, instead of losing tulo and then drafting webb?

maybe im not thinking clearly

True. Makes sense. So, what do you think? Assuming the top 50 players are gone.

Could you trade Tulo for better than the 9th overall pick? If so, do that. If not, make the deal.

No, I couldn't trade Tulo for better than the 9th pick. But the guy who wants to trade me has an amazing team. He has Arod, Teixeira, M. Cabrera, J Reyes, and Holliday. He also has Webb and Lincecum. He can only keep 5 of those guys, so he wants the #1 pick so he can essentially keep 6 players. I declined the trade because I figured I could just draft whoever he drops from Cabrera and Lincecum, who are both better roto style players than Webb. Plus, by getting Webb now, I would have to cut one of my keepers right now which would be either Matt Kemp or Carlos Quentin, who also both finished ahead of Webb in the roto rankings even w/ Quentin missing the final month.
