Haha. This is when you know you're going bad. Owings, who we all know was just sent to the Reds to complete the Dunn trade, pinch hit with 2 outs and a guy on 1st in the 10th inning at Arizona. He doubled in Chris Dickerson to beat the D-backs 3-2 and send them 4.5 games back of L.A.

OUCH

Wait... did Owings give up pitching this year already to focus on hitting? I'm completely out of the loop on this, I had no idea he was even traded

No, and he was recently traded to complete the Adam Dunn deal

He hasn't, but most people figure he will, because he totally stinks as a pitcher, and has the potential to be a 30 hr/middle of the order caliber hitter. But then again, Dusty and the Reds wukk try and keep him as a pitcher, even tho his potential is higher as a hitter.

Seriously? Owings really has middle of the order potential? I had no idea.

Yes he does....He can really hit.......Have him focus on being a hitter full-time, and the Reds have their future #5 hitter in Owings.

Yeah, but where would he play?

That's the thing, though. Owings doesn't stink as a pitcher...well, he didn't stink last year--he was pretty average. And he's only 25. He still has potential as a pitcher, though clearly not as much as he does as a hitter. Thing is, since he can only pitch one day, they really should try to find a way to have him in the lineup on the off days.
