I'd like to thank everyone who's contributed to these threads. It really is tremendous that we have a ton of knowledgeable posters who post on this forum regularly. All of the links, insights, scouting reports, and discussion have been terrific. Furthermore, the fact that we have a number of broadcasters and insiders who provide us with their own information and insight has only enhanced what we have to offer here. I really would like to thank everyone who has helped out around here, whether it's been editing the minor league posts, posting links, going to games and coming back with pictures and notes, or just participating in these threads.

I figured this would be a good place to wrap up all of those discussions for this season. Think of this post as a catch-all for any questions, comments, or observations you have about the 2008 minor league season, whether it's Cub-related or otherwise.

All in all a good minor league season. Daytona won the FSL and Iowa made the PCL playoffs even though they didn't win. Hopefully that means three teams within the organization will play in the postseason. :D

Seems the most appropriate thread for this:

Gerry, Seattle: Hey Jim, some questions about Cubs relievers. How do you rate Ceda, Samardzija and Cashner? What about Jay Jackson (is currently a starter, I believe)? Do they all project as bullpen pitchers, or can you see any of them as MLB starters? Where do you see them ending up realistically, as opposed to their ceilings? Thanks bubba.

Jim Callis: (2:08 PM ET ) Ceda is definitely a reliever. The Cubs are toying with the idea of Samardzija and Cashner as starters, but I think they'll be best off in the bullpen. Jackson is a nice sleeper, a talented ninth-rounder from this year's draft. I think he has a chance to be a mid-rotation starter.

Tim (Chicago): Vitters stock up or down after last season?

Jim Callis: (2:50 PM ET ) About the same.
