Brilliant move by Manual. Send a lefty to make his major league debut vs. a team that eats lefties for brunch. Maybe its just a thank you to Yost for putting in Gagne yesterday.

Good thing its a night game then. They should be nice and full by 7:05

"As I write this blog, right-hander Yovani Gallardo is throwing a simulated game to a handful of Brewers hitters. Gallardo has been out since May 1 with a torn ACL in his right knee and the Brewers have maintained it is a long shot that he will pitch again this season.

But to be at the point of throwing a simulated game means he's not that far away from being ready to pitch in games. The problem the Brewers have is that the minor league season is over and therefore he can't go on a rehab assignment there.

Might we see Gallardo again this year? And, if the Brewers make the playoffs, would they include him on their playoff roster? Because he is on the DL he could be added to the playoff roster. All interesting questions that I'm sure won't be answered at this time for fear of causing a letdown should Gallardo not make it."

The Brewers usually stink against young pitchers, good or not. If it's a guy who's debuting, they'll almost certainly strike out 8-10 times. After the game, Ned always "tips his cap" to the "kid who had some really good stuff tonight" and says his team "battled hard, but it's hard to hit a guy you've never seen before." Because, you know, Milwaukee has never heard of scouting reports and video before.

Meh, every teams fans say stuff like that. It's selective memory. No one thinks much when you tee off on some scrub you never heard of, but everyone gets pissed off when the next scrub you face locks you down.

i think over the past season, Cubs fans have complained that:

-The Cubs can't hit young pitchers

-The Cubs can't hit established veterans

-The Cubs can't hit power pitchers

-The Cubs can't hit finesse pitchers

-The Cubs can't hit soft tossing lefties

-The Cubs can't hit hard throwing lefties.

etc etc etc

And yet somehow we've outscored the entire NL. I'm not sure which genre of pitcher we seem to hit so well but I digress.

Jon Niese and Manny Parra pretty much both stunk tonight. It looks like Mets/Brewers could be headed in the direction of Braves/Marlins with Mota coming in with 2 guys on and nobody out in the 6th.
