To win back to back Cy Youngs, but in different leagues?

I don't believe so. In fact, I believe there's only a handful who have won Cy's in both leagues at any time. Clemens comes to mind.

Gaylord Perry and Randy Johnson have also won it in both leagues, but it hasn't happened in back-to-back seasons. It's worth remembering that prior to 1967 there was only a single major league Cy Young Award, not separate awards in each league.

He'd have to win all his remaining starts and Webb would have to lose all of his for that to happen. The people who vote for this are old fashioned and if they see 20 wins they won't look elsewhere.

Cy Young award only goes back to the mid-50's, so I doubt it.

Pedro Martinez came damn close, winning it in '97 with the Expos and finishing second in '98 with the Red Sox. That's probably the most recent example I can think of. These days, most teams won't get rid of a reigning Cy Young winner to allow that to happen. If the Indians didn't get off to such a god-awful start, they'd probably still have him right now. The discussion would be moot.

 

Of course, it probably is, anyway. Even if Webb completely collapses, I'd be more willing to give it to Lincecum than Sabathia. CC's been great, and maybe if it was an underwhelming year for candidates you could toss him a few votes, but there's no candidate shortage this year.

I have some breaking news on Brewer pitching, jsonline says as we speak Gallardo is throwing a simulated game to handfull of Brewer hitters, and he still has a shot he could pitch this year and since he is on the dl, the brewers could bring him off the dl and he could pitch in the playoffs.
