  1. 1. Cotts - Has he figured it out?

    • Yes - We need to keep him beyond this year

    • Yes - But he hasn't shown the ability to repeat success from year to year. Trade him in the offseason while his value is high.

    • No - Success is the result of small sample size. Trade him before he self-destructs

Everyone remembers Cotts outstanding performance in 2005. He was horrible in 06 and 07, and wasn't great early in 2008. He now has the best K/9 and BB rates of his career, and is giving up the second fewest hits per inning of his career. Has he been lucky, or is he finally back to form? Any faith he'll do it again next year?

I would not mind seeing a one year deal for him, as I don't think his value will be high enough to warrant trading him, as what he could garner in a trade will probably not be as much as what he could give us if he continues being successful.

I said keep him beyond this year. Granted he was bad following up his great 2005 year, but at 28 there's a good chance he's figuring it out and will be good.

Will he be a terrific shutdown reliever? I don't know, but I think he can be a solid lefty out of the pen. Plus, even after a strong showing this year, he should remain relatively cheap.

Neal Cotts is a good example of why you shouldn't give out contracts like the one Scott Eyre got. I don't know how "high" his value is, but he remains a decent cheap option for the bullpen for the next couple of seasons.

It seems as though he's throwing harder this year then i have ever seen from him. I said keep him hopefully only for a year to see what he does.
