Harden again dominates, yet this time he gets an L for his efforts. Rich had 20 k's in 2 games and has given up 1 run. He's been better then advertised.

On to the offense. D-Lee has not gone yard going on 4 weeks now, that's not going to get it done when you are batting third. That AB in the ninth was as piss poor of an AB as you can have. He has a 2-0 count and hits into a weak 6-4-3, which he is great at. He has hit into more DP's then he has hit homers, PATHETIC!

Dan Pleasac called him out in the post game show by saying "That was just a bad AB for being ahead 2-0. You're not looking for a single, you are looking for the 3 pointer".

Aramis needs to bring the bat on the road as he is killing this team as well. He's in his second horrid slump in a month.

I really think now is a good time for a good old Lou explosion. They have been playing mediocre ball for long enough now. They can be thankful Sori is coming back and that this pathetic play has not cost them the division lead.

i've been calling for a lou-splosion for a while now.

Yeah, they went through a rough stretch. However, all those good things that happened earlier in the year will be nothing more than a footnote in a very average year if they don't get the lead out of the butts and get focused.

The pitching has been great this week.

The offense needs to get back to the basics --- work the count, draw a walk here or there, make the pitchers work.

I know we aren't this bad, but we have some major offensive issues. We drew 2 walks today but really most of our ABs were short and impatient.

Our 3 hitter can't hit HRs

Our 4 hitter can't get on base to save his life

Our high priced RF is basically being platooned

Our 7th inning guy is a gas can

Our hitting with RISP is nonexistant, yesterday not withstanding.

The only thing that really bothers me is that Ramirez and Lee are just not getting it done. I realize Lee has a +900 OPS over the last month, but his overall numbers for the year just aren't good enough. The rest of the issues can probably be rectified.

Seriously what are we going to do about Ramirez? .138 over his last 16 games (9 for 65) and now hitting .271 for the season.

Fixed. No team in Baseball can win when the 3-4 hitters aren't doing what they're getting paid to do.

Trade Hill/Pie+ to Colorado for Holliday. Bat Holliday 3rd and move DLee down to 5th.

Might as well go for it all this year. no point in waiting anymore.

You should post what you posted early in today's game thread to get people off the ledge.

(Honestly, I wonder what UMFan was like during the NBA Finals in the 90s.)

Maybe petition the league to see if he can wear the pinstripes on the road???

Not sure if that will work, but Lou needs to have a closed door with those 2....either that or bench them. Shoot, they're killing us at the plate.

You'd almost think they want this division to get tighter then it already is... [-X

Get his wife and new born baby up to the states.

The offense has been slumping for awhile. I'm not panicking yet.

Get him some thigh highs. The knee highs arent getting it done anymore.

huh? what is a "closed door" going to do?

Lou: "Ramirez, get in here!"

Aramis: "Yeah, skip?"

Lou: "You need to stop sucking on the road. Now I mean it!"

Aramis: "Ohhhh...I see. Got, skip. Will do."

Lou: "Lee!"

Lee: "Hi coach. What's up?"

Lou: "You've only hit 2 home runs since June 1st. WTF?!?!"

Lee: "Seriously? No way, let me see that......Damn; you're right. I'm on it!"

I dont think that is enough to get that done.

it's not even close to enough.

o'dowd asked for the following for holliday:

mets: beltran and fernando martinez (sending willy taveras back with holliday)

angels: saunders or santana, plus adenhart and kendrick

holliday doesn't really seem to be going anywhere...

Hey come on that post wasn't too irrational. Are any of those things I said not true?

Yes.

Cubs have .379 OBP from the #4 spot (3rd in NL)

Cubs OPS with RISP is .811 (2nd in the NL)

We need someone to step up and play Jacque Jones. As I recall, around this time, maybe a little later last season, the majority of the offense hit a funk, however, there was one guy who was able to come through in pretty much every situation. Im not saying sign Jacque, IM just saying someone needs to step up. Jim Edmonds, Im looking in your direction.

If thats Jimmy, he needs to keep it up

it is. my point was to say that he has been stepping up.

I wasnt saying that he hasnt been, Im just saying hes our guy right now. Lately, our 3 top hitters have been

Edmonds: and when Soriano returns, he'll be a platoon guy

Theriot:when Soriano returns, he'll be bumped out of the 1 spot where hes thrived. Hopefully hes just moved to 2

Fontneot: when Soriano returns, we'll see him about as much as Cedeno.
