correct, but remember the all-star game is more on hype/popularity. On a curve it is the best all-star game in pro sports, but digress. Soriano needs to be more focused an upcoming minor league rehab (unlike last time) than the annual popularity contest that is the all star game.

well if the national league wins the game, the national league would get home-field advantage, and you can take a look at the cubs' record to see what home-field advantage might mean for them.

This is great news. I dont so much care about the All Star Game. maybe let him start, and only keep him for 1 inning, but we REALLY need to get the band back together.

I'd prefer to keep him as far from the field at the All Star game as humanly possible. The last thing we need is for him to do something stupid trying to show off for the fans. I know he played in Yankee Stadium, so maybe it has some sentimental value to him, but an extra few days of rest and rehab might be the way to go.

Soriano has been cleared to do strengthening work on his hand without a splint.

Soriano (broken hand) has been cleared to do strengthening work without a splint, and he said he talked to trainers about starting to take batting practice this week but was told to wait until possibly the St. Louis series next weekend.

Alfonso Soriano's hand checked out well after X-rays Thursday and he's scheduled to begin taking batting practice off a tee Friday.
