Couple interesting deals on the table.

1- Adrian Gonzalez for Justin Verlander and on of the DL'd Hafner/V. Wells/C. Pena

 

2- Brandon Lyon for Hunter Pence.

 

 

This is a 10-team, head-to-head points league. Kinda wacky, because you get 10 points for a save, making closers pretty valuable. My team is currently 14-4 (play 2 games per week), with a very good shot of going 16-4 and claiming my 7th highest score week of the 10 played.

 

My team has Utley, Wright, Gonzalez, DLee, Burrell, and Beltran all among the top 18 hitters in points. Also, have Volquez, Halladay, and Zambrano who are in the top 12 in SP points. This trade will give me Markakis, Loney (both on my bench right now), Pence, and the DL'd player of my choice competing for the U spot. Verlander competes w/ Lester, Cain, Joba and Weaver for my 4-5 starters spot. '

 

Should I do one, both, or leave well enough alone?

To add. I could replace Lyon from the waiver wire w/ Capps, Marmol, Fuentes, Borowski, or Franklin.

 

And it's possible I could get Bedard from the guy instead of Pence.

 

Also, it is a keeper league. Can keep 4 (only 2 SP), but you can't keep anyone drafted in the 1st 3 rounds, which leaves out Utley, Wright, and Lee.

If you can replace Lyon with Capps, I'm not sure I see a downside to the 2nd trade. I'm pretty high on Pence anyway, but doesn't sound like you'd lose much, if anything, in giving up Lyon. Who's your other OF if Pence and Markakis would compete for Util?

I'd still make the deal for Pence. You're not giving anything up and he's probably a keeper or at least in the discussion.

10 teams, 2 relief spots per team, plus the bench, but most people don't have backup closers, because we can use RP eligible starters there too (Brett Myers, Wellemeyer, etc).

Lyon is on my team. Capps is not. We only have 10 teams and 2 relief positions. 20 closers (most don't have a closer on the bench). That's 12 closers who aren't picked.

 

On rosters are: Lyon, KRod, Wood, Sherrill, Papelbon, Valverde, Lidge, Rivera, Nathan, Cordero, Wagner, Street, Hoffman, Ryan, Saito, Gregg, Percival, Soria, Brian Wilson, Jenks, Percival, and Putz. Capps is right in the middle of this list w/ 10 above in points and 10 below. Only 2 were below him before the start of last week. And 8 Pirates fans in this league, they are a little cynical about the Pirates chances to win a game, thus getting Capps a save.
