Tribune Company CEO Sam Zell says the company is pushing ahead with the sale of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field and bidders should get the financial books within the week.

Zell told lenders on a Thursday conference call that preliminary bids will be due in July. He says Tribune continues to explore a possible sale of Wrigley by itself to an Illinois state agency, but won’t delay the overall sale while trying to make that happen.

This is taking longer than the Democratic Primaries.

I remember when it was a big deal that he still owned the Cubs on Opening day. It's looking like he may still own them when the season is over.

He will, I don't think there is any doubt in that. I pretty much expect this to be complete in Nov.-Dec.

I have to go return my cans and bottles that are in my garage and see if I can put together a bid.

Does anyone know if Cuban still has a chance or is he already out due to the good ole boys?

Last I heard (which was recently), he's still holding on to hope and is very serious about it.

Don't know if his chances are all that good, but he'll certainly do his best to make it happen.

I think things have looked more optimistic the past few months.
