Where can I get shoes for cheap? Mine are about 5 years old and stiff as concrete.

This is the best price I have found on what I want. They feel great trying them on.

i shot 91 yesterday. it's always fun wailing a drive 275 right down the middle, then yanking a 90 yard pitching wedge into a tree that's 20 yards right of the hole. then the next hole, i slice my drive into the adjacent fairway and then hit a great 5 wood to set up a par save. i wish i played more; i do a lot of things well but i just hit too many clunkers.

That's a lot of how my game is...except I usually slice my drive and have to recover with a nice iron shot. There was a hole the other day when I played...a long par 4. Perfect drive down the middle of the fairway. Then my iron shot went into a creek. So I reshot from where I was at - ya we kinda cheat like that - Perfect 7 iron shot to the green. I make my putt. If its not for the disaster shot I shoot a birdie. Just need to play more so I have that consistency.

Yeah...I had been driving really well on Tuesday, so I tried to yank one on a par 4, and naturally I sliced it HUGE into the other fairway, but I was lucky and it was sitting clear up on a hill. I used a 5 hybrid and just hit it clean back onto my own green.

Then I 3 putted for bogey.

It seems like I have a ridiculous hole on every round. Last week was a classic example. I'm on a par 3 hole that's about 130 yards out. There is a small opening over a creek with tall trees lined up on the right. I shank my 9 iron over onto the next tee box way right. There is virtually no possible way to get on the green from here as the trees are too thick and too tall to go through or over. What do I do? I follow up my shanked tee shot by topping the ball badly. The ball worm burns its way under the bridge that crosses over to the green hits a rock and caroms right onto the green for a par. Needless to say, my golf buddies laughed rather hysterically at my rather unique par. A par looks the same on the score card, so I quickly came to terms with it.

My damn irons still haven't arrived, so as a reward for my tremendous patience, I went and bought a new Taylor Made R7 Driver, 3W and 5W. My new woods are very eager to meet my new irons.

Does the R7 have the 2 moveable weights? That's the one I got and I have it draw weighted right now, and I think I'm in love. I still slice when my swing gets lazy, but I do a much better job of getting wrists turned over during my swing and squaring up the club face with it.

Putter and fairway woods are next summer for me.

after hitting the hybrid 3 and 4, I am not sure I will ever use a fairway wood again. I can drive the 3 longer than the 3w.

Mine has 3 moveable weights, but yeah, that's probably the one you have. Wow, I was hitting bombs yesterday. I hit too many on the range and got too worn out to hit 'em straight on the back 9.

I'm definitely loving mine.

I use my 3W off the tee on 'quirky' holes and sometimes off the deck on long par 5s to get the extra potential of 20 yards if i hit it good compared to the hybrid. If its in the short or heavy rough i dont even consider the 3W and go with the 3H. That's where the club is amazing for me. My 3I is worthless now.

I need to learn how to use my SW from the fairway on like 60-80 yard approaches. I use my PW but dial it down to like 1/2-3/4. Id like to be more consistant with a full SW.

Well my Pinemeadow Excels showed up today so I took em out for a spin - fantastic. I could not be happier with this purchase. I usually top the ball about 4-5 times on a given 9 holes. Today I topped the ball exactly 0 times. Every single ball I hit went high and straight. I never consistently had such a great mid-long iron game as I had today.

Thanks a lot to Banedon for linking this site up. Best $150 I ever spent on golf. Can't wait to get out there again.

Great news! It's definitely still possible to top balls, but it's definitely weighted to help get down on the ball easier. I got stiff shafts on mine, and I'm paying a little bit of a distance price at the moment as I get comfortable with that...but no doubt I'm playing better golf with my Pinemeadow Commands.

Why not get a gap wedge?

My Infernos came in just in time for me to take out on Tuesday. I'm in heaven. Between those and my new Taylor Made woods, I'm in heaven. Heading back out today. My next investment might have to be a new putter. The putting game killed me on Tuesday.

Toughest par 5 on the course, and I'm putting for eagle just on the fringe, slightly uphill and about 15 feet. What do I do? I putt the first one about 7 feet. A huge no-no when putting for eagle. The second one breaks left and past the hole by about 2 feet. Third one goes in, but I'm boiling mad at this point.

You know what will help more than a putter? Just going out to a putting green and practicing for like an hour. I like to line them all up in a line to the hole. Then start with the closest and work my way out. If I miss one, I have to do it again. You can go out as far as you feel like you should be able to 1 putt.

Also you can put a bunch a long way from the hole and try to 2 putt them all to practice lag putting.

Not that I'm a great putter, but I'm a heckuva lot better than I was a couple weeks ago just from a couple practice sessions.

Hmmm i forgot i had a gap wedge in my bag. From what i remember the gap wedge i have is in between the PW and 9I, im going to go double check. I maybe in line for a new club.

I think its the bounce of my SW that is giving me the inconsistency compared to the PW.

So if you were to use your SW from that 60-80 yard approach, what problem would you have? Accuracy? Length? Both?

The length is inconsitent, i dont hit it as square. When i hit it good and square i get the right distance but if i dont it doesnt go as far or i will blade it more than i would a PW. I can feel the club bounce of the grass and then hit it thin or even blade it, thus its hard for me to be consitent on the distance. The gap wedge i bought like 8 years ago i think is a 48 so that might not be enough so i may need to go higher now that i better. I bought one of the PureSpin wedges thinking it would be awesome to spin the ball, yeah little did i know how freaking hard that is to do and its not as easy as the guys on the commercial made it out to be. #-o

I took my first lesson this morning. Never played golf in my life. My entire office is having an outing Monday, then two weeks after that we're having another outing, followed by a client tournament about a month from now. I need to learn, and I need to learn quickly!

Its easy to learn. Hard to get any good at. Don't be discouraged by shooting 120+ if you have never played before.

I have the same issue with my SW I seem to scoop it often. I do use a 50 degree GW it is my 100 yard club.

if you've never played before, i'll be amazed if you shoot under 120. hell i was on the golf team in high school and averaged like a 58 for 9 holes my freshman year, and that was playing almost every day. i also had a tremendous slice though, and 5 of the 9 holes had OB on the right side :x

by senior year i was down to a 41 average, though.

also, i need to get my clubs regripped. i just bought a house, so a new set golf clubs are not really an excusable expenditure at this point.

oh also, the handicap system at the penn state white course pisses me off to no end. the "easiest" hole on the course is a 180 yard par 3, which i've probably played 30 times and parred maybe 2 or 3 times. i think they do their handicap system based on all players - so if you're like my roommate and you shoot a 150, of course you're going to do better on a par 3 than a par 5, since it's much shorter and most of the time you're making lousy contact. but i probably average about a 4.25-4.5 on that par 3, but some of the easier par 5's on the course i probably average about 5.5.

i am virtually worthless on long par 3's - long being anything over about 170. if it's farther than 170, then i have to hit a 5 iron - and my low irons are terrible - or try to hit a three-quarters 5 wood, which i'm also really lousy at. i can hit my 5 wood great with a full swing, but it goes like 210, and most of the longer par 3's are in the 180-190 range.

Why can't I read the other pages of this thread?

I want to read more about the Pinemeadow clubs. I'm thinking of getting some clones rather than buying old name brand clubs that have been worn out.

I'm playing an old set of King Cobra over sized irons (1 1/2 longer shaft) and sometimes they feel a little dead. Of course, they are old.
