In my 10 team, H2H league, J Upton just got dropped. We use 6 offensive categories (R, HR, RBI, SB, Avg, OPS), and my current outfield picture is:

Sizemore

Ellsbury

Hermida

Swisher

Another person I could consider dropping is Todd Helton, moving Swisher to the first base spot, even though he's sucked this year. My Util Spot is currently taken up by Soto, with McCann at catcher.

Should I make a run at him? Or are those are early season numbers too good to be true?

Do you really have to ask?

Let's see Swisher is batting 100 pts lower and has less hr's and rbis. Ellsbury is batting 34 pts lower and has less hr's and rbis. Hermida is batting more 25 pts lower and has less hr's and rbis. Sizemore is batting 35 pts lower and has one hr more and less rbis.

Oh and Upton has a .392 OBP (the highest of them all) which helps OPS

I mean come on dude its a no brainer.

Yeah if I were just basing it on production for the first month and a half of the year, it would be an easy decision. But Upton's BABIP is 412 right now. He simply can't sustain that. When he comes back down to earth, and Swisher starts playing up to his career norms (in a much smaller ballpark)...

Now Hermida vs Upton is a much tougher. argument. I want to keep Ellsbury around for his runs and stolen bases, and I'm obviously not going to drop Sizemore.

Swisher's career norms??? What his career high .262 batting average or the fact he's never had 100 Rbis??? Swisher likely won't get a whole lot better. Something few talk about is Guillen must be a horrible manager for batters. Everyone on that team has 0 patience and its because he always wants them swinging for the fences. Thome=HR's low BA; Konerko=Hr's low BA; Dye=Hr's low BA; Swisher is just another in the group. I've been waiting for them to realize that when they were a good team they played small ball with guys like Pods.

Upton is consider one of the best young players and everyone has expected him to be a dominant player at some point it looks like this his breakout year. A .310 average 6 hr's or mid 20's rbis aren't phenomenal just very good and about what people have expected of him. I would put Upton second in the group behind Sizemore and tied with Ellsbury.

I'd drop Swisher faster than something that I'd drop really fast to pick up Upton

You're so poetic and wise.
