The NL has a lower collective ERA, has given up fewer runs, and has the majority of the top-line pitchers, especially since Santana and Haren were dealt to the NL.

NL will always have a lower collective ERA and give up fewer runs because the AL has the DH.

 

I don't think having 5 or 6 great pitchers in a league has anything to do with 9 individuals having good BA or HR numbers, because most of those numbers come against guys like Jason Marquis and Randy Wolf anyway.
