So...just for the hell of it, in January of 2007 I put my name on the Cubs season ticket waiting list. I was then #28408.

I just checked today. I am still #28408.

I guess I'm a little bit suprised that not one single person has not renewed in 2 years....obviously at the current rate I will never get tickets...I just wonder if anyone else has seen the list move...how much...is there an average rate of non-renewal per year?

I talked to my season ticket rep about this since I was wondering how many people dropped their tickets. He told me out of the base 29,000 season tickets, 4 tickets were not renewed. 3 people died and 1 person moved out of state.

I signed up for the waiting list about 4 years ago and I've moved about 10 spaces on the list. There's no way I'll ever get season tickets unless the Cubs really start tanking every year.

Ugh...4 a year and 3 of those were due to death....

I'd say the only way we ever make it is if they build a new stadium and they open up a larger season ticket base (and people correspondenly drop their season tickets in protest)

They have a base of 29k season tickets? WTF?

So only 13k tickets (or so) per game are actually released for sale to the public?

As a current season ticket holder I would hate this if it happened, but I would not be surprised if a new team owner decided to issue PSLs to raise a lot of cash and recover some of the coin they spent purchasing the franchise. That would certainly have the potential to shake up the current season ticket holder base.

The season ticket base includes partial season ticket packages as well (nights & weekends and daily double plans) -- so not all 29K have tickets to every game....

You know, you guys can get season tickets over Stubhub. That's what I would do if I had the money.

Probably the main reason why everybody renews their season tickets.

They probably wouldn't give you the rights to those playoff tickets though.
