I played against RJ once or twice when I was in high school, and he was damn good back then.

I have to say that if Umberger and Richards are the only two Flyers forwards that play worth a damn, this series is not going to last very long. They have seven 20 goal scorers, and some of them really need to step it up. briere and Carter, in particular. They both looked awful.

There is no way Pitt can let Malkin go. I think that in the past 5 months it has become obvious that he will be the best of Ovechkin/Crosby/Malkin. Which is saying a lot. I may just be drunk, but Malkin has all the making of a legendary guy like Mario or Wayne. The guy is just unbelievable, and when he wants to dominate he dominates.. It is such a great time for the NHL. Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, Kane, Toews, Price, EJ, JVR, Turris etc.

I really hope they capitalize on the amazing young talent and make the NHL a big 4 sport again.

scoring wasn't the whole problem - you give up 4 goals and most of the time you're going to lose. biron was average at best, too. the pens really just have more talent on the ice, especially with gagne and timonen missing the series, and unless biron stands on his head the series isn't going to last more than 5 or 6 games.

as for the flyers, i don't think this will be the last time in the next 5 years these two teams square off for the right to play for the cup.

yeah i am really hoping that malkin wants an ovechkin-type contract and the pens decide they can't afford both him and crosby. i don't like the two of them being on the same team. fleury is an RFA this offseason and malone, hossa, ruutu and orpik are all UFA. the pens are going to have a salary crunch that i do not envy.

They were saying on HNIC tonight that Malkin has already told the Pens that he won't take a discount and his contract will probably be for more per year than Crosby's.

that's what i like to hear. really, he's probably as good as ovechkin, so i don't blame him for wanting ovechkin-money.

Malkin reminds me of a healthy Forsberg, and a healthy Forsberg was the best player in the NHL for a 10 year period.

that, and he does some things better than Forsberg did.

namely, put the puck in the net.

Nice giveaway by Pittsburgh to give the Flyers a shorthanded goal.

the referees have not been good, though i'm happy to see hatcher be punished for breathing.

that may have been a crappy penalty, but the refs owed us for not giving crosby the goal a blind man could see went in.

MAX!!!!!

Hatcher is not having a good series.

when hatcher is forced to play 28 minutes and jaroslav modry plays 20, you're probably not going to win. put another way, when a top line forward and top two defensemen are injured, and you're facing a team at full health, you're probably not going to win in the conference finals.

I am scared to say this, but Detroit looks so dominate right now. I know that Dallas doesnt have anyone as good as Crosby and Malkin, but I dont think it makes a difference if you never have the puck. I just dont see anyone beating the Wings right now.

I don't think the Flyers have gotten a single good bounce this series. From the deflected goals, to the bounce of Coburn's grill, they've all been bad bounces.

As an aside, NO ONE boos like Philly fans.

Also, Marian Hossa is nasty.

hopefully we can get down a few more so i can take a nice long nap before work tonight.

and, hopefully our fans will give the players a nice ovation at the end of game 4... it's been a fun ride this season, just ran into a better team while undermanned this series.
