The Flames overcame a very quick 3 goal deficit to beat the Sharks last night. I am very surprised that the Flames are giving the Sharks this much trouble.

i'm a little surprised but not shocked. if i were a low (#1/2) seed in the west, the last thing i would want is to take on a team in western or central canada. those fans live for hockey, and no matter how big an underdog their team is, they go all out for their team. calgary, edmonton and (once upon a time) winnipeg were great places to play in the playoffs, but not for opposing teams. combine the intimidation factor of the saddledome with a very good goalie in kiprusoff, one of the game's best players in iginla, and a true #1 d-man in phaneuf, and you've got a tough matchup.

Kiprusoff was pulled. It was Cujo who shut them out the rest of the game. I would normally agree with you, however San Jose was so good down the stretch. Calgary won game 1 in San Jose which is a pretty tough place to play also. Joe Thorton has really been a non-factor again in the 2 games I have watched.

The Wild are getting 2 on 1s with regularity in OT and Theodores stoning them all. He's been sensational tonight.

yeah i didn't see any of regulation, but the wild are thoroughly outplaying the avalanche in OT.

and Bouchard puts one in to win it. the Avs played deplorable defense after the 2nd. and with the offensive firepower they've got they should be able to muster a few good chances in a game, but that really didn't happen tonight. Stastny and Smyth were non-factors.

Finger's really gotta feel like crap too for the GW goal.

hey nhl, maybe it'd be a good idea to get off a network that is about channel 225 on my system, and features bull riding, fishing and hunting among its more attractive viewing options?

It'd be nice if they got on a network that was featured on cable too.

petition to cancel game 4 in the ottawa-pittsburgh series and just allow pittsburgh into the second round. i can't believe ottawa mailed it in like they did since around january.

Ok so maybe I'd rather not have played the Flyers in round one. ;) This series makes it really difficult to tell if the Penguins are playing that well or if the Sens are just that bad. I guess we'll find out in Round 2.

that was a miserable play by Jurcina. i would've called a timeout after one of the last two goals if I were Boudreau...i mean yeah it's the end of the period but i would've worried about giving up another goal.

i wonder if he'll go with kolzig at some point. as bad as he was during the regular season, stranger things have happened than a guy getting motivated to come up big in the playoffs. huet has looked shaky all series, even in his good game in game 2. even before he gave up goals, he was leaving fat rebounds in front and generally looking uncomfortable and lackadaisical.

the caps look much better on offense though. they looked really bad passing and breaking out in game 2, but the passes are much more crisp and stick-to-stick today.

flyers look much better today than they did in either of the first two games.

blatant trip of knuble in the offensive zone and no call. i know the league wants ovechkin in as long as possible, but they're making it too obvious.

penalty shot for richards. GOAL. eat it, craps.

boston is outplaying montreal in 3 of 4 games, but is down 3-1. too bad they have no finishers, nothing better than watching the habs lose

lawl, caps get a horse crap goal deflected in by a high stick.

not a chance.

terrible defensive first period sunk the caps in that game.

that's their achilles heel. green isn't very good defensively and neither is jurcina. huet is average too.

i thought we were the better team coming into the series and after outplaying washington for at least a period in the first game and then both of the last two games, i can't say my opinion has changed.

I love how this entire Washington - Philly series has been blacked out for me on Versus. Just wonderful.

do you have CSN?

strangely enough, the flyers were blacked out here on CSN philly all year, and now they're on during the playoffs. they're also on versus, so after not being able to watch the flyers most of the year, now i can watch them every game, often on 2 channels. thanks gary buttman!

btw, mike richards should be a selke contender for many years. ovechkin has been playing a ridiculous number of minutes (25 a night) and hasn't been much of a factor in the series; richards has been matched up against him the whole time. call me a homer, but i'd take richards over crosby when you take salary, defense and leadership into account.

minnesota is down 4-0 and has officially gone from hockey mode into "send a message for the next game" mode. and between boogard, fedoruk and aaron voros, they have the guys to goon it up.
