Cedeno's chances of clearing waivers

Cedeno is out of option so if he doesn't make the 25 man roster he must clear waivers to be sent to AAA. With Cintron pretending to be good if he makes the team ahead of Cedeno what are the chances that Cedeno clears waivers?

slim to nil. While Cedeno has sucked big time at the big league level, including his imfamous caught steeling on a ball 4, his AAA numbers are enough to intrigue a lot of teams, especially with the low price and hes only like 24.

I wasn't even considering this option. Maybe this is why there is such a holdup in the BRob trade...why accept Cedeno as part of your haul when he might be on waivers available to you in 2 weeks?

Teams do tend to stay out of eachother's way when it comes to waiver claims at the end of ST.

This reminds me of the story around Cedeno's initial addition to the 40-man roster. I thought at the time it was completely unnecessary, considering how young he was and how bad he was, there was no chance somebody would take him in the rule 5 and keep him on the 40-man all season. Anybody remember the details?
