MLB Trade rumors reports that the Cubs are definitely interested in trading for closer Joe Nathan if he's available. It also has been reported that George Ofman of WSCR radio 670/Chicago says the Twins would indeed want (at the very least) Marmol in any deal for Nathan.

I don't know who else the Cubs might have to give up. I would give up Marmol as part of a package for Santana but not for Nathan. For Bedard or even Roberts...I don't know.

Yeah, I wouldn't part with Marmol for Nathan. We might get a small marginal upgrade for one year, but it would cost us millions of dollars and 4 or 5 more years of work from Marmol.

If we pulled the trigger on that trade, Hendry would be in the Bavasi class of GMs.

Hmm, maybe a signal that the Cubs don't trust Marmol's arm to hold up in the long run and are trying to sell high? Or is that giving them too much credit?
