Deal something less valuable than Marshall for McLouth, sign Fukudome, then make a run at somebody like Lincecum with Pie+Marshall? McLouth and Murton could platoon, or either could play full time if they break out, with Fukudome's position depending on which one that is.

My Giant fan brother says that in the Bay Area they are talking about trading Lincecum before he throws his arm off. Thats why he is available.

The strange thing is, if you take a hard look beyond his max effort approach, his basic mechanics are incredibly sound. He does a terrific job of keeping his non-throwing arm raised and held close to his chest. He loads up his pitching arm really cleanly. His lower body motion is simply outstanding. Moreover, he doesn't do the evil inverted W which has claimed the arms of a number of pitchers. Moreover, he repeats his mechanics impressively well.

 

I know the guy's short and hard-throwing, but that doesn't necessarily translate to arm troubles down the line.

Well, he's been throwing with the weird windup/arm motion since he got to U-Dub and he's yet to have major arm problems.

Points taken. Wasn't really my opinion - I haven't seen enough of him to know nor do I know that much about a pitcher's mechanics - rather the opinion of many Giants fans out in this area.
