I'm not convinced Pie will be an adequate CF. His ceiling is high enough, but there's a chance his performance could be Ronny Cedeno-esque circa 2006. Cedeno may or may not be an upgrade, but he also is risky.

The chances that those two fail at CF/SS is far far greater than the chance that our bullpen won't be as good as it was last season. I'm for reducing the risks. If we add one impact bat at either RF/CF/SS, then we'll be far better than adding to the bullpen and expecting our line-up to be improved with Pie and Cedeno. Just thinking of both of those in the line-up with no major upgrade in RF makes me cringe.

I agree, but an RF upgrade is not that difficult.

It's more difficult than finding someone who can get a couple of outs in the sixth or seventh inning a few times a week.

Well, it's easy if you have a $200M budget.

Technically it is like 240-250, LOL. Don't forget you have to add the luxury tax. And funny when I say The Yanks should lower payroll, peoplejump on me as an A-Rod hater. They forget 35 M was Bora$$' starting point and that means he costs over 50 with tax! I agree the Yanks should pair down and get to 160, maybe stop spending so much on their own crap middle relief!

Winn vs. Murton is not the right comparison as they are playing 2 different positions. Winn would be in CF and Murton in LF.

Soriano/Winn/Murton is better then Soriano/Jones (or Pie)/Murton. Not only in OF production but also in the fact that Marquis is no longer in the rotation.

Winn has played more RF than he's played CF the last 3 seasons.
