I'd take Mazzone over Rothchild any day.

That's a tough call. The two of them along with Dave Duncan may just be the best pitching coaches in the game. I'd probably take Mazzone, but wouldn't fire Rothschild to get him.

The thing about Mazzone is that his strenght is pitch selection. I feel he could really help Rich Hill.

Orioles hired Rick Kranitz as their new pitching coach.

Orioles named Rick Kranitz pitching coach.

The Orioles couldn't get Joe Girardi, but they could hire someone who used to work under him in Florida. Kranitz spent two years as Florida's pitching coach after 22 years of working various jobs for the Cubs. His pitching staff was a pleasant surprise in 2006, but it unraveled in 2007 as Anibal Sanchez, Josh Johnson and Ricky Nolasco all got hurt. None of the three were truly abused in 2006, but both Sanchez and Johnson did have relatively heavy workloads, mainly because they were so effective.
