"For some reason they won 90 games. For some reason they're in the playoffs."

Gotta love Z.

Great, bulletin board material already

I don't think he meant it to come out that way. I think he meant that the Diamondbacks won 90 games for a reason and that they were a good ball team. Didn't quite come out right though.

In other words you think it was a lack of a grasp of the English language than a slight to the Diamondbacks?

pretty much.

While maybe I buy the notion of bulletin board material in football. A little less so in basketball.... I DEFINITELY don't buy bulletin board material in baseball.

Besides, I don't think Z had any intention for that to sound the way it did.

Z isn't an english grad guys...he has chopped english...it was a compliment...and i personally feel it was the best thing he could have said in that situation

Okay, good.

I know the dbacks fans will probably take this the wrong way but I couldn't care less about that.

I would keep the stream running. I think they're having problems fitting Piniella through the door.

that is why quotes in publications are so annoying...everything needs to be put into its original context...without context things are pretty meaningless

lou must be taking one of his cat naps

Mike Scioscia and John Lackey did their press conferences at the same time. Don't know why Cubs didnt do that.

Of course, Levine asking about them manufacturing runs

I can't think of many phrases that I'm more tired of hearing.

"We'll use Jason out of the bullpen, yes"

Crap.

That doesn't mean they'll actually use him. It's just saying that he's on the roster but won't start, and to tell everyone that he's being put on the roster just as an insurance policy doesn't sit well with people. So Marquis is technically available out of the bullpen, but the only place he likely would be used is the long reliever.

i actually really really really like the decision to have marquis available in the pen...

if we advance...that will *possibly* give him a little more confidence when he starts in the next series...

i am not giving up on marquis just yet

As the mop up guy if they have a 8 run lead. This is probably a move more to keep from pissing off Jason more than it is needing him. He'll probably never see the mound. Thats what Im hoping. I hope he wasnt added at the expense of Hart, Hart is far more valueble out of the pen.
