What a friggin joke these players bust their humps for over a 165 games and this is what they get when they make the playoffs!!!! I am hoping that this was a typo that only 1200 fans showed up my bad I forgot that the "Vols" were playing yesterday. Gee do you think more fans might show up today.....

You know what really pisses me off is when they start playing that stupid song "rocky top"!! Keep that crap at the football game, I went through this same crap last year in West Tenn. They had to put the "Vols" game on the scoreboard screen to apease the 200 fans that showed up.....

My bad but the people of Knoxsville don't have to worry about showing up tonight due to the fact they play away. How is it that the smokies only play one game at home of a five game series?

I'm surprised the attendance was that low despite the Vols game since Samardzija was pitching.

it's not just college football, sadly. Both last year and this year, there has been a noticeable decline on Friday nights once HS football begins.

 

For example: August 10 - Chiefs attendance = 6700

August 24 - Chiefs attendance = 3700

 

I can't even imagine what it would be like if there was a decent college team nearby.

 

That said, if Huntsville can sell 2100 tickets for a Friday night, you'd think that Tennessee could have sold more than 1200 on Saturday. Then again, I probably would have done everything possible to not interfere with the football game when scheduling the playoff game. Not sure when it started, but 5:00 probably wasn't' the best time to start the baseball game. Perhaps with the travel, it was not possible to start any earlier.

Huntsville got an extra home game in this series by winning both halves. It could come in handy if the Stars win tonight.

 

As far as the "fans" not showing up.. get used to it. Knoxville and the surrounding area is all Vols, all the time. The Smokies are something the "sports" fans in the area support during the Vols "off-season." Rocky-Top is a wildly popular tune with the folks over there (as well as Pringles Park and everywhere else in that state). The fans get jacked up when they hear that tune, that's why it's played.

What are the fans supposed to do, go to the Smokies games instead of their kid's high school football games?

 

And don't even tell me you expect people to go to the Smokies game instead of a UT football game...
