I'd really really really like to come out of today with a 2.5 game lead.

Unless MIL can somehow post 3 losses after playing just one game, I'm sadly thinking that's not gonna happen.

You do realize that the Cubs are 1.5 ahead of the Brewers, right? A win and a brewers lost turns it into a 2.5 game lead.

You do realize that I'm pessimistically not counting on the Cubs winning today, right? A loss and only 3 Brewers losses would make it a 2.5 game lead at that point.

I'll happily eat crow until I puke, and then shovel some more down the hatch, to be wrong about the Cubs losing... but just a gut feeling.

Sigh. I didn't eat crow, but had some chicken.

I hate it when the gut feelings are right. :(

The White Sox are hitting new lows every day, they're losing 7-1 to the Red Sox today, meaning they have been outscored in this 4 game series by a count of 42-7, with still three innings left.

See, this is what good teams are supposed to do to bad teams. They don't lolligag, letting the other team hang around. They smell blood in the water, knock the opponent down, step on their throat, and then twist their foot.

Cubs could learn a lot from the Red Sox.

The problem is the Cubs aren't that good. They don't have the throat stepping ability that the Red Sox have, so, unless they learn from them how to field a better team, I don't think there's a lesson here.
