Last night for the D-backs, Micah Owings threw 3-hit baseball over 7 innings, and also had 4 hits, 4 runs, 2 hr and 6 RBI at the plate.

 

Dude should change his name to Micah OWNings.

I believe there was discussion at the time about whether he'd be drafted as a pitcher or a position player. If he were on an AL team he might seriously get consideration for being used as a DH between pitching starts.

Recall, the Cubs took a shot at him in 2004 in the 19th round. I give them credit for at least trying. It took three times through the draft for him to finally play professionally.

 

He's a natural. He posted a 3.14 ERA (190 innings) and hit .377 (61 AB) in the minors. I think Arizona will continue to let him pitch for a couple more seasons and see if he can climb his way up the rotation. Otherwise, they should seriously consider finding him time in LF.

I have to admit, I like this guy. It's too bad he isn't a Cub. One look at his bio and you can tell that this guy can definitely swing the bat. (Disclaimer: I post the first link because I think it's a nice story, not to start any type of debate. Some, like me, will like it for what it is, othrs will dismiss it, and that's fine as well. To each their own.)

we should've given him the high six figure money he was looking for. If I was a rich organization I'd pour buttloads of money into the draft.

I remember when we drafted him, and everytime I see him have a good start this year, all I think about is how he should be in a Cub uniform.
